Surrounded by her loving family, Shirley peacefully passed away onTuesday, August 8th, 2023, at the Inverary Manor in Inverness, Cape Breton.
Born in Truro on January 25, 1949, she was the oldest daughter of the late Margaret "Peggy" (Nock) and Samuel Pearo. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 57 years, Frank Chandler.
Shirley was raised in Kewstoke, Cape Breton with her large and loving family. Shirley spent her life taking care of friends and family and serving people at Vi’s and will be remembered as a sweet, kind, strong, and independent woman. She loved music and valued her family greatly. Those who speak of her now comment on her big heart, sweet demeanour and beautiful smile.
Shirley adored her Children: Brenda (Sandy MacInnis), Troy, Carl (Rachel Mac Donald,) Dawson Creek, Kevin (Michelle Matthews), Dawson Creek, Connie (Daniel MacLean), Dawson Creek.
Her Grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life: Elisha (Michael Black), Chelcea (Dave Driscoll), Courtney MacInnis (James MacDonald), Ashton (Kelsey), Nathan (Hayley), Kaden Chandler, Landon (Fusha) and Sophie Chandler, Josie MacLean (Blain Crocker) and Bailey MacLean. Her Great grandchildren adored and cherished her so very much: Ainslee and Lauchie Black, Lexi and Darci Driscoll, Norah MacInnis, Isla and Frankie MacQuarrie, Connlley and Ronnie Crocker.
Left to mourn are her siblings Diane Rouse, Wilma Matheson, Margie Ellis, John Robert (Sylvia) Pearo, Sheldon Pearo, Melody (Kenny) Ferguson and brother-in-law Donald MacDonald.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her sisters, Elaine Campbell and Patsy MacDonald; her brother, Timmie Pearo and brothers-in-law, Gary Ellis, Gordon Rouse and Ross Matheson; Sister-in-law, Sharon Pearo.
Shirley was very involved in the UCWL, and regularly volunteered at numerous organizations. A very special thank you to her home care support workers, the staff at the Inverary Manor and her palliative care team for their loving care of Mom. You will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 15th from 2-8 pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 11am, in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. John Tapscott officiating. Burial to take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Inverary Manor. Family flowers only, please.
