Campbell, Marion Isabel – 65, of Blues Mills passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 26th, 2023, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by her loving family and is now at home with her Lord and Saviour.

Marion was born on October 28, 1957, in Inverness to the late Thomas R. and Katherine (Gillis) MacPhail. She married her soulmate, Bobby, on October 20th, 1979. Together they raised four cherished and precious sons, Matthew (Siobhan), Bradley (Kassie), Michael (Chantalle) and Brent (Chelsea). Marion’s absolute pride and joy were her six grandchildren, Lachlan and Lilah, Isaac and Owen, and Cohen and Cooper.

Marion is survived by her sister and best friend Becky Austen; brothers-in-law Raymond Chandler, David Smith and Lawrence Campbell; sister-in-law Elizabeth MacPhail; nephews Scott (Darlene) Austen, Wayne (Wanda) Chandler, Jamie (Colleen) Smith, Adam Campbell and Ian (Wanda) MacLean; nieces Stephanie (Mark) MacEachern, Patricia (Chris) MacDonnell, Carol Smith, Angie (Ray) MacKenzie and Beth MacLeod; grandnieces Savanna MacEachern, Bryanna Smith, Chloe and Samantha MacKenzie and Mya MacLean; grandnephews Sean Austen, Cael Austen, Neil MacEachern, Kyle and Kirk MacDonnell, Ethan and Evan Chandler, Joshua Smith, and Mitchell and Mason MacLean and great-grandnephew, Khalid MacDonnell as well as many cousins and friends.

Along with being pre-deceased by her parents, gone before her were brothers Darrell and Robert; sisters Anne Chandler and Neilena Smith; sister Margaret Anne in infancy; brother-in-law, Brent Austen; nephew, Roger Chandler; grandnephew Noah MacEachern; as well as father and mother-in-law, Robert and Christine Campbell and sister-in-law Marilyn MacLean.

Marion graduated from Mabou Consolidated from the Stenography program in 1974 and went directly to work at Stora Forest Industries. There, she formed many long-lasting friendships and enjoyed her work. She left work to raise her sons in 1990 and was the ultimate stay at home mom attending every practice, game, concert, and event that her boys were involved in. In 2005, she began working at L’Arche Cape Breton where she found true happiness with her work family and the core members until her retirement in 2020. Marion valued her family and church family more than anything. She hosted many family gatherings and dinners in her home along with planning and providing for many church events. Marion was known for her steady faith, work ethic, compassion, selflessness, kindness, and caring nature, as well as leadership in her family. The pivotal role she played in the lives of family and friends is irreplaceable. Marion will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank Drs. MacLachlin, Saliba, Wasserman, and DeBoers as well as the oncology nurses at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Melinda MacDonnell, Melissa Beaton and Kelly Cummings for the devoted care and attention Marion received over the past four years. The family also thanks the medical team at St. Martha’s for the compassionate care received over the past weeks.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Visitation will take place on Friday, September 29th from 2-8pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held in the Blues Mills Gospel Hall at 11am on Saturday, September 30th officiated by Pastor Wayne MacLeod. Burial will take place in Upper River Denys Cemetery.
