Obituary of Walter Alexiux Bond

BOND, Walter Alexiux - 85 of Canso NS, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Canso Seaside Manor with family by his side.  Born in Canso he was the son of the late John F. Bond and Estella (Rhynold) Bond.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean (Postlehwaite) Bond; children, Angela (Kevin), Township of Chatsworth, ON; Michelle (Gerry) of Canso, NS;  Walter "Wally" of Antigonish, NS; sisters Anita Gavin, Cape George, Marie King, Evanston; and Baby sister Margie Penny of Canso, as well as, numerous nieces; nephews; and, cousins.

Walter was a very proud Poppa to four grandchildren who all held a very special place in his heart.  John; whom he played a huge role in raising from infancy in the Canso Family Home; Sheldon, Brantford, ON, Caitlin, Southampton and the youngest Darwyn.

Walter was predeceased by Brothers Dave, John F. Junior; and Charlie; Sisters; Nellie; Jean; Florence, Catherine; Elizabeth; Cherished Grandson Darwyn; and son in law Kevin who he always gave up his den for.

Walter dedicated over 40 years to the fishing industry in a number of different capacities.  Although he enjoyed fishing and hunting his most proud accomplishment was building the family homestead, bit by bit by times but he always was able to figure it out with help from his friends.  He loved working at ceramics with the love of his life Jean.  In later years he enjoyed watching the boats and birds with his Canso Seaside Manor Family.

In later years Walter was blessed with a second family "Residents and Staff" of Canso Seaside Manor whom he brought a lot of  joy to and they to him.  God Bless Both Familes.

In keeping with Walter's wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation.  Entombment of urn will take place at a later date.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
