Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.

My mother in law was always kind and forever generous ..always a twinkle in her eye ..and a extra plate at the table .
She made me slipper socks to wear in the cold Canadian winters which I still have today ..
She always made me feel welcome in her home and finally after many years had passed she finally deciphered my strange accent ..
Always loving her grandchildren and proud of their accomplishments ..
She will be deeply missed her in our home in Australia .
She was one of a kind - They just make them
better in Cape Breton ..
To the sweetest memories ..

My mother in law, was a marvel, there was always a smile and a hug and that amazing Cape Breton hospitality and her trying to understand “ my strange accent”....
Roughly 25 yrs ago she made me slipper socks which I still wear today and think of her and smile.
They broke the mould when they made her and she will so missed .

With a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, you knew that Aunt Kaye was happy to see you again.
We were not only welcome on our visits, we shared the joy of family reuniting again after a long absence.
We weren't often in Cape Breton, but when we did visit, Aunt Kaye made us feel at home, always kind and gentle in her ways.
Nancy and I are thankful that we were together again with Aunt Kaye and Uncle Amby this past July. It brought our fond memories of her to the fore again. We will always keep this dearest of Campbells close in our hearts.

It was with great sadness that we learned of Kaye’s passing…she was so full of life and a fighter to the end. I have had the pleasure of working with her granddaughter Katherine for the past few years and Kaye always mentioned her when we spoke at church in Judique…so proud of her and I am certain of all the children and grandchildren who could not have had a more supportive role model…you will be greatly missed Kaye…rest in peace…Shirley&Gus McDonald, Halifax/Judique

Aunt Kaye was a lovely woman. With a twinkle in her eye whenever she was telling a story, her warmth and wit were quite evident. Having visited Judique several times since age 5, my time spent with Kaye and Ambrose was always memorable. The love between them was clear and very sweet.
Young at heart, Aunt Kaye had an affinity and ease with others, no matter what age you were. I loved hearing about her working days in Halifax, her knowledge of all things Cape Breton, and the history of the Annie and Alex T.'s Campbell clan raised on Centennial Road.
With fond memories, I raise a cuppa tea to Aunt Kaye. Forever in our hearts.
Donna,
daughter of (Flora) Jessie Campbell MacDonald

Dear Arlene and Clan Campbell.
We are so sorry to hear of Kaye’s passing! They say, “the people make the place”, and, in that respect, Kaye’s many contributions to the community made Judique “HOME” to us and others. The love she showered on her family and friends emphasized her commitment to being the type of person that makes this world a better place. She was an example to all of us to be our best selves. We will all miss Kaye! Lynnette Dirk, and Bruce Downie.

Aunt Kaye always made us feel like part of the immediate family and always treated our daughter, Campbell, like one of her grandchildren. She made quilts for all her grandchildren and in one of her visits to Boston, she asked Campbell about her favorite color. Campbell responded with “yellow.” The following summer, in a neatly packed parcel, was a beautiful quilt (predominantly in yellow flowers) and with the Nova Scotia plaid trim. Campbell took it with her during her first pre-college program away from home. Aunt Kaye was always very kind and giving to our family. We will miss her dearly.

I am so fortunate to have grown up with a wonderful neighbour like Kaye! Her positive outlook on life and common sense way of living have been an inspiration throughout my life. Kaye never treated me like a child but as a person. Regardless of our ages, she asked for our opinions and was genuinely curious about our lives. To be included in adult conversation was unusual but to be treated like an equal was unheard of. I heard all the local stories, happy or sad, with Kaye's common sense narrative helping me navigate the unfamiliar territory. It was so special to be included in her orbit! Our two houses were our whole world growing up and Kaye's influence was everywhere .
Kaye and Ambrose raised such a beautiful family next door. My parents have so often talked about how lucky we were to have you as neighbours. You are all so important to us and we feel your loss so much. I know it is next to impossible to imagine a world without your wife, mother, grandmother! She set a fine example for living for all of us, she was one of a kind and she won't be forgotten.

Dear Campbell family
Kaye was such a sweet soul and will be terribly missed by all of you.
The last time I saw her was in mom & dad’s kitchen (Madeline & Ambrose) when she dropped in with Carly & Arlene 1-2 years ago. She quietly chuckled as the conversation and banter flew around the kitchen!
May your precious memories of her help you through this difficult time. Take care,

Ambrose, family and friends,
We are sad learning of Kayes's passing. I am not exactly sure when it was that I first learned of her brave battle with cancer. Like many others, I assured Kaye I'd remember her in my daily prayers.
Ever since the early years of visiting Judique, I was pleased with a developing friendship with you and Kaye. Special people who continued to play an important role in the community of Judique and St. Andrew's Church where we often met in later years.
During my limited walks on the community trail, it was a pleasure meeting the "Judique Ladies" who were kind enough to stop for a short chat. Kaye and her trail pals never failed to amaze me because of their determination and effort. In my opinion hey remained good support for each other.
During our August 2023, visit to Judique and to the Interpretive Centre in particular, was the last time seeing the "Trail Ladies" enjoying a celebration brunch. I was most fortunate to have collected a beautiful photo of this special group for another video project.
Shirley returned from her work at Costco advising of a young lady telling her that her grandparents were from Judique. This young lady's pride for Ambrose and Kaye Campbell came shining through once again. Truly a reflection of her wonderful grandparents who helped support this wonderful spirit residing in your family.
Kaye has provided numerous memories because of her sincere care for others. Today these are memories of a beautiful life to reflect upon during your difficult days ahead.
"Blessed are those who mourn fore they shall be comforted."
our deepest sympathy and continual prayers,
Gus and Shirley, Halifax N.S.

Dearest Ambie and family- a bright light is gone. Tony,I and our children send our condolences and love to you in this difficult time. Kay was so good to me as I was growing up-so kind and supportive and for that I am thankful. Kay had a saying and anecdote for every situation, almost always shared with the Cape Breton dry sense of humour! Her energy, interest in life, genealogy, and world happenings always ensured she had some information to share! Spending time in conversation with Kaye was guaranteed to make one laugh and brighten one's day. Our prayers and thoughts are with the entire campbell family, spouses and grandchildren. RIP Kaye........

Kaye was such an influential person in my life. Even as a young girl she spoke to me as if I was grown up, in the best way. She didn’t treat you like a kid, more as a peer. I loved her visits and I loved visiting her, always hoping she would offer up a homemade chocolate chip cookie which she almost always did. Having a neighbor like Kaye kept us in the news, in the Orans, in the cranberries and kept our neighborhood feeling like a community. I sincerely wish that I could be home to pay tribute to such a special person but know that I am thinking of each and every Campbell, their spouses and the grandchildren that Kaye was infinitely proud of. Special condolences to Ambrose, I hope you find strength from those who love you very much.

To Ambrose and all of Kaye's Family:
I am so sad to lose my wonderful friend Kaye. We loved to see her coming for a visit. She and Archie had many great conversations about people they knew in common. She was always so generous - bringing blueberries or cranberries almost every time she came. I will miss her phone calls, seeing her sitting in front of me in church and at the card games.
She was very proud of her family and especially her grandchildren. She indeed was one of a kind. Blessings...Edith MacLellan

Beautiful photo and tribute. I loved your mother (and "that you Ambrose's wife?" as Long John would say on the old party line). Being a transplant to Halifax myself, she was my "pipeline" to Judique. I'm already missing our wonderful chats and am mourning the loss of my dear friend. But my loss is my mother's gain. Lupy's been waiting a long time for this reunion. They sure had fun and made lots of happy memories together both in Judique and in Halifax. I'm sure introductions are ongoing at the gates of St. Peter as I write this. My heart is broken for Ambrose. Heartfelt condolences to her soulmate and all the children and grandchildren. She was so proud of each and every one of you. Rest In Peace, Kaye. You will be deeply missed.

Dear Ambrose, Kevin, Carly, Arlene, Louise, Allan, Paula, Mark and families.
I was so saddened to hear of Kaye's passing. So many fond memories of her. She was not only a fantastic neighbour, but a wonderful family friend. She was also so funny, especially with all her stories of the Halifax days. She was always so good to stop in for a visit when any of us were home for a long weekend. I am sure she is being greeted by Alex Trebeck and so many others with lots of laughter and tea. Rest In Peace
