I was so sad to hear about your mom’s passing. Where do I begin? I was so very fortunate to grow up next to Delia and her family. Delia was a wonderful neighbour, friend and mentor in many ways. We shared the same birthday and she would always send me a card with $10 or a lottery ticket. I still have many of those cards and can’t part with them. I have so so many fond memories of our friendship, our chats , our laughs, and of course her colourful vocabulary. Her chocolate cake with boiled icing, her soups and her homemade bread were a staple and trust me , when visiting, the table was always at the ready. When I mentioned to my kids that Delia had passed they were so sad to hear as well. They too have cherished memories of visiting her while we were at Pepe’s, and they would so laugh at her stories and the odd ‘dieu de dieu’.
She was not perfect but perfect to me. I will forever remember her.
I offer our sincere condolences to Howard, Carol Ann and Paulette , and to her siblings, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
With much love,
Delores, Jerry and family xo
