Obituary of William Bernard Young
YOUNG William Bernard – Age 71, Eskasoni First Nation, passed away in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Surrounded by family on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia William, he was the son of late Charlie and Caroline (Doucette) Young. Predeceased wife late Bernadette (Michael) Young, son; late Michael Andrew Young. brother’s; late Alfred Young and late Reginald Gabriel (Gubby) Young.
Left to mourn are his surviving children Melissa Young (Randall), William Young (Adrienne), Charlie Young (Sharon); Sisters Gloria Gould, Anita Young, Charlotte Anne Young & Mary Anne Young Brothers; Charles Young, Kevin Young, Allan Young and Alphonse Young; Grand children who he cherished and adored, Serena, Adreah, Korbin, Sebashton “Bash”, Tristen, Randall Jij, Jasper, Hailey and baby Mike. Godchild; Lydia Michael and his many nieces and nephews.
William was a member of Eskasoni Holy Family Parish. His passion was collecting hockey and baseball cards. He was very talented in carpentry and enjoyed helping as much as he could. He cherished the company of his family and friends. William was also a survivor of Shubenacadie Residential School.
Visitation will be after 3pm Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Fishery Building (Blue Building), 160 Reservation Rd. We’koqma’q. Funeral mass will be 10am Monday, February 19, 2024, from Blessed Kateri Parish, We’koqma’q with Father Joby Augustin officiating. A meal and salite/ Auction will follow at We’koqma’q Community Halll/Firehall, 15 Reservation Rd, after the service on Monday, February 19, 2024. Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the Parish Cemetery.
