Beryl Janet (Langley) MacDonald-MacLeod

1943 – 2024

It is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother on May 24, 2024. A long-time resident of Pleasant Hill (Kings Road), Port Hastings, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Ethel (Murray) Langley of Port Hawkesbury. A graduate of Normal College in Truro, she began her career as a teacher.  She later worked at Woolworths before working many years for Avis Rent-A-Car.  She ended her working career as curator of the Port Hastings Historical & Archive Society before retiring.

Beryl was a lover of Country Music (Old Country!), dancing and an avid camper.  She was also a lifelong lover of dogs and donated to various animal rescue shelters. Beryl is predeceased by her first husband Carl Vincent MacDonald (1978), second husband Donald Nicholson MacLeod (2023) with whom she shared 43 loving years, daughter Kimmie (2024), and beloved granddaughter Shelby (2011). She is survived by her sons Bobby (Kelly) MacDonald (Carl, Dylan & Brooke); Gary (Shelley) MacDonald (Lennie & Jessie); Dale (LeeAnn) MacDonald (Ally & Ryan); Kimmie’s partner Andrew Archibald; 3 great grandchildren (Aspyn, Bryson & Clementine); her stepchildren Wayne MacLeod, Catherine MacLeod Pilote (The late Jeff Pilote) (Sarah & Olivia) and Brent (Mary) MacLeod (Brianna).

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1^st from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.  Funeral Service will be held at St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 2^nd.  In lieu of flowers, donations to CMC2 Dog Rescue, Forget Me Not Rescue, SPCA-Cape Breton Branch, or any dog rescue would be appreciated.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
