Dear Carol and Family;

I was very saddened to hear of Dennis' passing and deeply sorry I was unable to attend the service. My sincere condolences to Carol , Grant and Gina.
Growing up in Port Hawkesbury just up the street from the Haverstocks you could not ask for better neighbors than Dennis and Carol and family.
I have many great memories and was always welcomed into their home like a son.
Dennis was a great friend to my parents and I can remember like it was yesterday the 2 of them sitting in our living room on Napean St. having a drink (or 2 !) or tagging along to their coffee club and listening to the banter. Rest in peace Dennis

My dad, Gerald Boudreau, asked me to send his condolences to Dennis' family and friends. Gerald was also a funeral director / embalmer on Isle Madame and had the opportunity to work closely with Dennis and they became good friends. Dennis was kind to my dad and did everything he could to support my dad, even though they were sort of competitors. That speaks volumes about Dennis' character. Gerald is very sorry for your loss and takes comfort in the memories he has of a great business man and friend.

My condolences to the Haverstock Family on the passing of Dennis. I benefitted from his community spirit when I played baseball in Port Hawkesbury. He was a great man and donated uniforms, jackets and whatever else we needed to be on the field. Garth also played a role in getting his father involved. Rest in peace Dennis.

Carol, Gina, and Grant
So sorry that Lucille and I are not able to travel to Port Hawkesbury for the wake and funeral.
Dennis was such a good friend and tablemate for morning coffee at Tim Horton's prior to their move to Antigonish and our move to Halifax. We regret that we did not get a chance to visit at The Maples.
Had lots of visits on the "Piazza" at Pitt Street and we know how much Dennis enjoyed being able to oversee the street activity around the Post Office.
I was truly blessed to have the privilege of being emcee at the 50th wedding anniversary celebration.
Dennis made a truly great contribution to many aspects of community life in Port Hawkesbury.
Regards
Larry and Lucille Evans

Carol and family, sorry to learn of Dennis’s passing, our deepest sympathy. Hard to believe it’s been 54 years since I arrived in Port Hawkesbury and Dennis ,joined by Martin and Hector took me under his wing. I quickly became a member of Kinsmen, sat in the church choir and became a coffee club member and that was only the first week!! The start of a great friendship that saw the 4 of us attend many enjoyable conventions.
Dennis impacted my life in those early days more than he ever realized. Before we left PH Betty Jean and I were married, had a son Christopher, with Dennis being his godfather. And yes 13 years after joining Kinsmen, I became its National President. Betty Jean and I will always be grateful to you both for your love and guidance as we started married life.
Ours is only one of the many lives that you had a positive impact on. We are most grateful ❤️ Bill&Betty Jean

My sincere condolences to the entire Haverstock family. I met Dennis more than twenty years ago when I began going to see him to try to do some business with his funeral homes. Over the next number of years he was kind enough to allow me to develop some business with him and gave me an opportunity at a time when I really needed it. I appreciated his friendship and he always took time to talk with me and even advise me through some situations over those years. I also have to say that we had some fun and laughs together through that time as well. I was lucky to have known him.

My sincerest condolences to Carol and family.
Dennis was a wonderful man, who was incredibly passionate about being in the funeral business. When I had approached the funeral home in 2002 with an interest in becoming a funeral director/embalmer, they all took me under their wing and showed me the ropes. I had many “road trips” with Dennis, and he would share his knowledge and experience, and of course a few good laughs along the way. He never treated me any differently than any of the boys, and for that I will be forever grateful.
He always had something wonderful to say about his “bride,” whom he doted on and when he spoke about her, he would always smile like a teenager in love. His love for Carol was truly genuine.
Dennis has left behind an incredible Legacy. He was a huge influence in my life, and although my life has led me on a different path, His kindness, encouragement, knowledge and most importantly faith In an unknown 18 year old “young lady” looking to join the funeral business will certainly not be forgotten. Thanks for taking a chance on me!

Dennis was bigger than life. He commanded a room with his big voice, his funny stories and running commentary on anything and everything.
The one thing I would like to say about Dennis, was his love of dogs, especially Rottweilers. We talked a few times about how some dogs never get the love they deserve and he told me he and Carol used to visit the SPCA in Sydney just to spend time with a rescue Rottweiler that was living at the shelter and was not adoptable due to his previous life. I believe that speaks volumes about the big heart he had. I am also sure everyone remembers Carol walking their Rottweiler and picking up garbage all along the way. Dennis and Carol were wonderful friends and neighbors.
Our deepest sympathy to Carol and extended family members.
