Byard, Walter Eugene – Sunnyville, Guys Co. Age 80. Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024 surrounded by his family in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Sunnyville on December 5, 1943 he was a son of the late Norman Clayton and Mary Elizabeth (Byard) Jordan.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Eunice (Byard-Borden); children, Paul (Ann), Toronto; Sharmaine, Toronto; Sandy (Jamilla), Dartmouth; John and Chris, both of Sunnyville; Anthony (Lisa), Antigonish. Siblings, Betty (Roy), Sarah, Sharon all of Sunnyville; Diane, Dartmouth and Muriel (Wally), Lawrencetown; James, Sunnyville; Neil (Sharon), Toronto. He will be missed by his 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents Walter is predeceased by his sisters, Ann and Marion; brothers, Norman, Bernie, Ronnie; grandsons, Jeffery and Jordell.
Walter worked as a wood cutter. He loved his children and grandchildren, He loved to play guitar, loved watching western shows and movies.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sunnyville United Baptist Church, Sunnyville and from where the Funeral Service will take place 2 p.m. Friday, July 19 with Pastor Clara Jordan officiating. Burial to follow on Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Walter to Sunnyville United Baptist Church.
