Obituary of David Jack Goodwin
Goodwin, David Jack - 89 passed away peacefully at St Martha's Regional Hospital (Palliative Care), Antigonish on Thursday, August 8, 2024 with family by his side.
He was born in Farnham, England on February 15,1935 to the late Walter and Nellie Maude Goodwin. In 1977 he made Guysborough, Nova Scotia his home. Then for the last 14 years he called Queensport home.
He spent his working days at sea., where he loved to be. He was a Chief Engineer with Atlantic Towing (Irving) New Brunswick for 25 plus years until he was forced to finish early due to being diagnosed with COPD. He always looked forward to Thursday nights and his Chedabucto dart family.
Left to mourn is his sister, Valerie, Fleetwood, England who got to spend a few weeks with him in April. His sons Rev Stephen (Rev Sue) and David (Peter) both of England; daughter, Tina (Stevie), Roachvale NS; step son, Paul (Betty), Queensport NS/Alberta; grandchildren, Deborah (Trevor), Sunnyville, NS, Paul Jr. (Nina), Lake Charlotte, NS, Denzel (Robyn), Pomquet, NS and Brooklyn, Roachvale, NS and greatgrandchildren, Paige, Raine, Bethany, Linden, Jaide, Rylee and Andre; nephew, Ian England, Deborah and Paul Jr.'s mother, Judy (Barry). Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Allan -England.
He dearly loved each and every grandchild and great grandchild. Papa will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be held in Christ Church Queensport, on Thursday, August 15 at 11am. Burial in the Church cemetery and a reception will follow in the Queensport Fire Hall. Memorial donations in memory of David “Papa” may be made to Christ Church, Forget Me Not organization that found a home for his beloved cat Ginger or to the Antigonish Palliative Care Society.
