Obituary of Helen Frances MacLean

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Helen (Whitty) MacLean of Port Hawkesbury, N.S, on Monday, September 30th, 2024.  Born in Neil’s Harbour, Helen was the daughter of the late Timothy and Blanche (Morgan) Whitty.

Helen is survived by her loving Daughter, Kayla, who she cherished and her son, Adam (Amanda,) Port Hawkesbury, Grand Children, Mason, Rylan and Ashlynn.  She is also survived by her sister, Jean, brothers, Gus, Timothy (Wanda) and Percy (Kim).  Helen was predeceased by sisters, Camilla, Jacqueline and Linda and brother, Joseph in infancy. 

Helen loved her Montreal Canadians and always started her day off with a tea and cigarette. She was a beloved animal lover, and Misty was her ultimate fur baby. She was Helen’s life saver and got her though her toughest days. Helen was a member of AA in Port Hawkesbury. She enjoyed her sobriety of 30 years. Although she had trying times, she persevered and got through all her hard days.  

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, October 7, 2024, from 12-3pm and a celebration of life to follow, all in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury.  Burial at a later date. Family flowers only. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
