Obituary of Thomas Gary Anderson

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gary Thomas Anderson, of Havre Boucher, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 78.

Tommy was a son of the late Bernard & Kathleen (Doyle) Anderson of Havre Boucher. Born in Halifax on August 14, 1946, Tommy was raised in both Yarmouth & Havre Boucher. In his younger years Tommy could be found behind the wheel of a GTO Judge, Pontiac Trans-am, Chevy Corvette or BMW’s. If you saw a nice car in Havre Boucher, guaranteed it was either Tommy or one of his brothers who owned it.

He was employed as a Regional Planner at the Nova Scotia Power Corporation for over 40 years and took pride in that. Tommy couldn’t resist Sousa, Dominican Republic where he spent 15 plus winters meeting many lifelong friends. Tommy enjoyed all sports but cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays was something you could not get in the way of especially if you touched the TV remote. If he wasn’t at a ball game, he could be found behind a 9-iron playing many rounds of Golf with friends. Tommy was a very kind & humble person who never wanted any type of attention. He lived a quiet life and was a simple man with a deep heart.

He is survived by his loving sister, Marilyn Anderson-Webb, Havre Boucher; Nieces, Lisa (Derek) Fitzgerald, Yarmouth, Adele Anderson, Havre Boucher, Johna (Matt) Hatcher, Calgary, Jade (Colton) Wood, Havre Boucher; Nephews, David Anderson, Yarmouth, Chad Anderson, Havre Boucher.

Tommy also leaves behind many loving great nieces and nephews as well as sisters-in-law, Ruthie Anderson, Yarmouth, Doreen Anderson, Yarmouth & Denise Anderson, Havre Boucher. Tommy was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne Anderson, David Anderson, Richard Anderson and brother-in-law, John Webb.

No visitation or flowers. Funeral Mass will be held on November 2 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Allan MacPhie presiding. Burial to follow.

Donations in Tommy’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.

A sincere thank you to the Doctors & Nurses as well as the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time for our family. A very special thank you to his best friend Robert Forrestal for his kindness and support as well to Father Allan MacPhie and choir.

Do not worry about the things you cannot control, whatever will be… will be.
