Obituary of Alexis Jean Steele

Please share a memory of Alexis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

STEELE, Alexis “Hubba” Jean, 77 of Port Hawkesbury passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19 after a long illness.

Born in Dominion, N.S., Alexis was the daughter of Alex & Kathleen MacDonald.   She was one of eight children and sister to Frances (Ali) Hall, Glace Bay, Mary (Richard) McCowan, Truro, Bernie (Suzie), Wadden’s Cove, Mike, Calgary, Greg, Sandy, Jimmy, and Kaye.

Alexis loved music and dancing and in her younger years, her and Joe were seen every Saturday night at the dances in Grand Anse. If she put her mind to something, there was no changing it, and in her late 40s returned to complete her high school and her PCW diploma.  Above all, Alexis had a love for her family and was happiest when they were around.  Her laugh was infectious.

Alexis is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph; her sons, Paul (Saskatchewan) and Vince (Cape Breton); 4 grandsons, Bradley, James, Tyler and John; three granddaughters, Sonya, Amanda and Ashley as well as four great grandsons and two great granddaughters.  She is predeceased by her sons, Charlie and John and grandson, Trevor.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 10 a.m.  Burial to take place at a later date.  Donations can be made in Alexis’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Society or charity of choice.    Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
