Hello. My mother was a friend of Dorothy when she lived in St. John's in the 1950's. I have a painting that she drew. The back of the painting says there is a portrait of William Eppes Cormack by Dorothy at the provincial legislature of NL. I wish I had met her while she was a live. My mother spoke about her all the time. Mom died in 2006. She'd have been 96 if she was still living. I wonder how they met?

My late mother, Mary Jane (MacKay) Hardie was a good friend of Dorothy, and in recent years shared a room with her in the nursing home for a while. My mother always enjoyed the opportunity to converse in Gaelic, and Dorothy was always an eager participant in this endeavour. She was always great fun to talk to, with her wide variety of interests and experiences. Very sad to hear of her passing, she will be missed.

I am so sad to hear of dear Dorothy's passing. She was an amazing woman and dear friend to our Mother Emily Cohoon, whom she shared her room with at the Nursing Home . She was. a very bright woman and spoke the Gaelic tongue fluently, always had a book to read. She and Mother had a great bond together and wonderful minds. Love you Dorothy, thank you for being always so kind to Mother Emily. Now you will see each other again. Love Annetta and Joe Cripps Fall River NS.

Dorothy was a sweet lady that I met when I visited my cousin in the Nursing Home. When Dorothy was about 95 she told a story to my cousin in Gaelic after which they shared a great laugh. To be that age and enjoy The Gaelic so fluently was a marvel to hear. I am unable to attend her funeral but want to express my deepest sympathy to her relatives and friends on a life well lived.

Our sadness is felt deeply as Dorothy just was so very special to us. I called her "The Mother Theresa of the Nursing Home" Dorothy shared her room with my mother Emily Cohoon, they became great friends and loved sharing their days together. She accepted her physical difficulties after here accident and never complained, she was greatfull for each and every day. She was a strength to others by her positive, pleasant, accepting nature, encouraging others and overlooking their weakness. She was so proud of her Award from the NS ART COLLEGE, Halifax NS for Best Painting, when she attended back in the mid 1940's. Her Celtic heritage was very treasured by her, as well as all the books she loved to discuss. She possessed a brilliant mind and remained so very keen. Thanks you Dorothy for caring and having to share my mothers last hours. I know heaven is your home now. Our Deepest Sympathy to Gerard, Anne Marie & Ross. Sincerely, Fred & Cathy Johnson.
