POTTIE, Dorothy Katherine - Age 98, Glendale, Inverness Co. Passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in River Denys, on February 1, 1922, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Isabel (Chisholm) MacDonald. Dorothy was a life long learner and touched many with her enthusiasm for life. She was very artistic and loved to take photographs, paint, work with pottery and do woodworking. She was a lover of nature and an avid vegetable and flower gardener. Dorothy was a loyal speaker of her beloved Gaelic language, her mother tongue, and was very proud of her Highland roots. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Angels Parish in Glendale and will be fondly remembered for her volunteerism including her lovely flower arrangements on the altar every week. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Pottie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predeceased by her brothers, Colin and John. She is survived by her niece, Anne Marie (Ross Drake) and her nephew, Gerard (Heike Langley), five grand-nephews and a great-grandniece. The family would like to thank the staff at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for their care of Dorothy. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 27 in St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial at a later date. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the St. Mary of the Angels Parish Cemetery Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
