Obituary of Fulton James MacPherson
It is with profound sadness the family announce the passing of Fulton MacPherson. Fulton died with his
family at his side. Born and raised in New Waterford, Fulton married the love of his life, Ruth McNeil
with whom he raised two sons. Fulton Graduated with a BSW from Dalhousie University and worked as
a social worker both at Children’s Aid Society and the Family Court system for over 30 years in the
community of Port Hastings.
Fulton was predeceased by his parents, Julia (Young) and Daniel
MacPherson, sister, Uhleen, brothers, Daniel, Walter, Lawrence, Paul Anthony, Donald, and Ian. He is
survived by his wife of 45 years Ruth (McNeil), sons Daryl (Paula) and Jeff, grandsons, Eddie, Aaron, and
Sam and granddaughter Louisa, sisters Carmelina (Richard), Pauline (Robert) brothers Kevin (Shirley),
Charles, many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Fulton was a kind, caring person well suited to the profession he chose to work but he had a
superpower. Fulton’s superpower was humor. His ability to make people smile or belly laugh came to
him as easily as breathing. He had the power to make people laugh but was able to combine it with
wisdom to know when and how to provide valuable advice for anyone in his circle. He helped anyone
who needed it not just with humor but with wisdom. It is only in Fulton’s own words that we can see the
genuine loving human being he was:
Fulton’s words: Be kind to everyone you meet. Love your Family and Friends deeply. Watch a sunrise
and sunset. The spectrum of life lies between those 2 events. Laugh often, let sorrow visit briefly, move
forward with courage. It’s not where the journey begins or ends it’s the journey itself that matters.
Visitation will be held 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Dennis Haversstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, May 19 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Deacon Burkley Guthro officiating. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society of Richmond County are suggested.
