We are sad to hear of Opal's passing. We enjoyed Opal's baking and preserves years before we ever met her. Our dear friend Theresa O'Neil would share the homemade goodies that Opal would bring on her visits into Halifax. We finally got to meet Opal on our visits with Theresa O'Neil when she lived with Beverly and Arnold. Opal took the two of us fishing. That was a wonderful experience we will never forget. Opal was a lively character and we were blessed to know her! May her soul rest in peace!

Hello David. On behalf of Pat and I, we send our condolences to you for the passing of your mom Opal. They always say the passing of a mother is most sad and painful. I wish I was home I would have visited for sure. Its been years and Im sure there would have been some memories shared and lots of catching up to do. As we age and lose love ones and friends I often say celebrate the memories and dying should be a celebration of their lives. It was nice to see Steve, Cyril, you and uncle Gerard togehter. I know you are heading back to Toronto soon and we wish you the very best. Hoping to some day meet up and share some stories. Safe travels.

My deepest condolences David on the loss of your mother.
Opie, we have been sisters for a very long time and like sisters do, we had our up and downs but the light always shone through for us. You were a wonderful sister but most of all you were a wonderful Mother to David and in turn be became a wonderful son.
Rest in Peace.
Forever in my heart ♥️

Opal loved fishing, she "pulled" me along for smelt fishing and the Fishing Derby in Erinville. She was kind enough to help me with my bid for MODG councillor. She was an independent woman and she made a wicked apple pie.
She was very proud of you David and often spoke of you. Maggie May will be there to greet her.

Well this took place in Toronto back in the 60’s. I was in elementary school.
It was summer time and it was hot and sticky in the city. Most weekends we escaped the concrete jungle heading to the lake for the day or weekend to get out of the heat.
This particular day our family of 6 plus Aunt Opal & David were going on a picnic somewhere outside the city limits.
We enjoyed our lunch and as the adults were busy making their tea the children were getting restless.
All of a sudden Opal reaches down to the ground and picks up a coin. Look what I found she says I wonder if there is anymore? Well us kids were as busy as ants on an anthill looking for more treasure and we continued to find all kinds of change.
It was like we had struck gold! Back in those days there was penny candy. Some were 3 for a penny, chips were 5 cents etc… so there was no end to the sweet treats we were going to be able to purchase with our new found treasure.
Overtime I found out that Opal had planted the coins.
Thanks for the special memory Aunt Opal. XO

Sorry for your loss.
Opal holds a special place in my heart!
When dealing with health issues some years ago, Opal gathered together a care package she filled with homemade cookies, pies, biscuits and jam. This gift I shared with my family that year while hunting. This memory lives within me to this day.
Opal was hard working, tenacious, independent and caring
You will be missed
