Obituary of Andrzej 'Andy' Wadowski

Wadowski, Andrzej - It is with deep sadness and heartbreak we announce the passing of Andrzej 'Andy' Wadowski (74) on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Born in Gdansk, Poland in 1950, Andy was the son of the late Stanislaw Wadowski and Izabela (Gorska) Wadowska. Andrzej is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 35 years, Pamela Le Drew; his two children, Malgosia of Kamloops, BC and Michal (Victoria) Edmonton, Alberta; grandsons, Henrik and Oskar; granddaughter Eugenia; brother, Jurek (Grazyna), Poland; nephew, Tomek and god-daughter, Sylwia (Jörg), Berlin, Germany.

Andy’s life’s work was fueled by a wonderful passion for life and the love of horses. His dedication to the equestrian community, particularly in the Eventing Discipline was heartfelt and will be missed by many. His competitive career spanned more than 50 years, beginning as a junior rider in Europe and finally as a long-listed rider for the Canadian Eventing Team in 1988.

Andy graduated from the Agriculture and Technical University of Olsztyn, Poland in 1975, with a Master’s degree in Agriculture. After graduating, he managed one of Poland’s largest breeding farms before moving to Switzerland and finally to Canada in 1985.

Andy’s dream of owning his own training facility was realized in 1989 when he and Pam opened Pinehill Equestrian Centre in Dartmouth, NS. This was Andy’s greatest source of pride and accomplishment. He offered a high level of expertise and professionalism unique to the industry, which set a very high standard for years to come. He and Pam devoted 30 years at Pinehill providing a safe and educational environment for their students and clients. His legacy will live on forever in the equestrian community and in our hearts.

We would like to thank the VON nurses and the palliative care team at Strait Richmond Hospital. A very special thank you also to Dr. Paul Pluta whose compassion and care gave Andy so much comfort and peace. There will be a private graveside service for the family in Barra Head, NS on July 2, 2024.  A Celebration of Andy’s life will follow at Pam and Andy’s home at 1595 Corbett’s Cove Road, Barra Head, NS from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm.
