Sandy was like a grandpa to me. He was very caring, smart and kind. He took care of everyone and things that needed to be fix, he would simply watch a video on youtube and was able to fix anything. Sandy was in my life before I was even born he was a great man who did great things, he did everything in his power to protect me and my siblings and gave us anything to make us happy. Even tho he may not be my grandpa by blood he is by love. We miss and love you sandy, you will never be forgotten.

I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Sandy more than a decade ago now through my good buddy, his son, Alex. Sandy was a kind hearted man with a zest for life and a curiosity about all things. I stayed at their Bed and Breakfast a couple of times and Sandy and I would have the best chats, often early in the morning on the front stoop, while Alex slept in a little longer, likely from my bad influence the night before :).
We talked about Cape Breton, PEI, growing up in Atlantic Canada, world travels and just general current events for at least 2 if not 3 cups of coffee.
Sandy and Alex came to our house in Charlottetown a while back and I will always remember that great visit and the laughs we had.
Hold on to the memories Alex. Lean on each other, my deepest condolences to you buddy, and your extended family and friends as you say goodbye to the family patriarch.
RIP Sandy!

So sorry to hear of Mr Mackenzie's passing. He was my teacher in high school plus I knew him through my husbands work with him later on. He was such a kind man and was very helpful to me. To his children, your Dad treated us all like family in our teen years and that counted for a lot. Jennifer Beaton (Hebb)

Sincere condolences. Our two Families were close and always all had so many great times together. Sandy was our Brother in Law, Uncle, Godparent to our son Greg and a good friend. Susan, Greg,Ashley and I always looked forward to and enjoyed our annual summer get togethers especially visiting your home in Port Hawkesbury and boating to the annual Cape Breton poker runs for about 10 years.
Sandy was also one of my biggest hockey fans in the day. He visited our Family home a lot in Dartmouth and always enjoyed playing Rummy with our Mom Lill even when she was winning and taking his $5.00. Times well spent.
RIP Sandy.

In the gentle cradle of memory, Sandy is eternally preserved - a man blessed with the intelligence and creativity to shape the world for the better. With his uncommon charm and constant optimism, he forged lasting bonds. Our youthful years in Sydney were enriched with great camaraderie; as my best man, he stood by me resolutely. His brotherliness resonated through every act of friendship - a loyal friend that will be sorrowfully missed by Joyce's family and mine. Rest peacefully, dear Sandy.
