Roderick Alexander “Sandy” MacKenzie
On Thursday, June 20 we lost a true friend, brother and father to everyone who crossed his path. Math teacher and professional educator but mostly, he taught people how to conduct themselves in a professional manner. He loved to help people in any capacity that he could, it gave him so much joy. Aside from teaching, he was a business man and he tried just about every venture that he saw opportunity in, from used cars, boats, B&B just to name a few. Some ideas were successful and some were not but he enjoyed the experience and challenges they presented.
He was the best father that I could have asked for and adopted many of my friends as his own and would do anything for them. A few quotes from him to adopt and live by:
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!”
“If it’s only money you’re worried about, it’s not a problem you can always make more.”
“Don’t stress about things you cannot control.”
A special “Thank you” to the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital ICU staff who were very supportive, compassionate and took excellent care of him.
Sandy is survived by his son Alex, sister, Ethel, brothers, Fred and Fultz, and his longtime companion Donna Fraser.
A reception for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
